Paula Fournier has had a love of science and health from a young age, influenced by her engineer dad and active mom. She pursued her passion in college, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree while working part-time as a physical fitness instructor/personal trainer and raising her children. They all sat around the kitchen table together doing homework nightly!
After graduation, Paula returned to the media industry, where she spent 15 years working on various projects. Her notable work includes producing and writing for the internationally syndicated medical lifestyle show, Ask Dr. Nandi, for which she earned an Emmy nomination in 2015 for a show about discrimination. Despite her love for the industry, the demanding nature of her job took a toll on her health, leading to weight gain, daily migraines, and constant pain.
Determined to improve her health, Paula shifted her focus. She took part-time jobs teaching at Madonna University and working in a medical office. A pivotal moment came when her new primary care physician listened to her concerns and conducted a thorough series of blood panels, revealing multiple food allergies and sensitivities. Without insurance to see a specialist, Paula turned to her love for science, researching and conducting an elimination diet on her own. This process led to significant health improvements, including a 67-pound weight loss and a reduction in migraines.
Inspired by her transformation, Paula realized how many others could benefit from similar guidance. To expand her expertise, she completed the Precision Nutrition Certified Nutrition Coach program. Paula also earned a Mental Health Certification from HeadSpace Training Institute. This made her understand the connection between mind and body better and let her help clients with mental health problems like stress and anxiety.
Paula now runs her business, Eat Healthy, Eat Right. She shares her knowledge and helps clients reach their health and wellness goals by making plans that are specific to their needs.
Paula’s approach integrates nutrition, mental health, and lifestyle changes for comprehensive well-being. .....but I’m going to share anyway for those of you that have heard excuse after excuse, here we go...
I was sick for a long time and doctors couldn’t figure it out. I had joint pain, inflammation, chronic migraine, chronic fatigue, nerve pain...I was laid up so many times for throwing out my back. Too many x-rays to count over the years. I traveled for work for many of those years. Not eating right. I was prescribed so many meds to take care of these issues. And supplements because my body wasn’t getting vitamins. It was monotonous. Specialist after specialist.
I was tested for Lyme’s and MS (several times), among who knows how many other things...
Along the way, I gained A LOT of weight. Who knows if it was the meds. 🤦🏻♀️ If it was the stress or the travel for work. Maybe the fact that I couldn’t work out? 🤷🏻♀️ Maybe all of it?
One day I decided I was going to focus on the food I was putting in my body and see if it had something to do with it. I gave up gluten and aspartame. Bye bye Diet Coke! 👋🏻 Bye bad carbs! Within a week, I was feeling better and walking without wincing in pain. My body hated those things.
Years later, I had my allergies tested - and I’m allergic to a ton of things! I’m now off all of those meds. (Don’t need ‘em!) I don’t need any of the supplements any more because I eat properly and cut the allergens out of my diet so my body can absorb the nutrients I’m putting into it! My bloodwork proves it!
I still do suffer from migraines so I take a preventative med and my allergy meds. That’s it. Oh! And I carry an epi pen. Stupid allergies.
Since changing my diet, I’ve lost over 60 lbs (the weight has been off over three years now!), my skin looks fabulous. (Hey water! 💦) I recently started running! (Omg!) I’m not at my high school weight. Nor should I be - I’ve lived a little since then. But I’m happy with where I’ve landed. And my body seems happy too!
I’ve gone back to my science roots and gotten certified as a Health & Wellness Coach. I’ve learned that you don’t have to cut things out of your diet UNLESS your body hates them. I didn’t diet. There was no magic pill for me. It took some research and trial and error to find what worked for me.
Now I get to help people find what works for them and I love it! Their trials are my trials. Their successes are my successes. I love helping every single one of them on their journey.
